Kailash and Mansarovar Tour by Land

KAILASH MOUNTAIN

Mount Kailash (6638 meters) in Tibet is situated at the axis of the world, also indicated as the axis ‘Mundi’ by different religious traditions. Lord Shiva resides on the top of Kailash Mountain according to Hindu mythology; he sits there in a state of meditation along with his wife Parvati, the daughter of Himalaya. This mountain is the ultimate destination of souls and the spiritual center of the world.

LAKE MANSAROVAR

Lake Mansarovar is the abode of purity. Mansarovar as a word has been derived from the Sanskrit words “Manas” which means mind and “Sarovar” meaning lake. The existence of a large extremely beautiful emerald green freshwater lake at such a high elevation of 4,590m above sea level is certainly impressive. It is a holy place, blissful and soulful, attracting Hindus from all over the world. Taking a sip and a dip in Mansarovar’s sacred water is believed to remove all sins committed over a hundred lifetimes.

RAKSAS TAL

Raksas Tal is named after an evil carnivore as in Hindu folklore believed to hide underneath its dark waters. A portrayal of dark, malevolent powers, this lake is mostly avoided by explorers. As indicated by legend, the water of this lake was toxic. This changed when a goldfish from Mansarovar Lake tunneled through a tight isthmus to let the holy water a chance to stream into Raksas Tal, therefore killing the toxic substance. This lake is situated in the west of Mansarovar Lake at 4545 meters from ocean level and Raksas Tal is 15 meter underneath of Mansarovar Lake. No birds and wild ducks are seen in the lake.

People who visited the sacred spots Lake Mansarovar and Kailash Parvat convey with them a memory of a lifetime which reminds them the presence of Lord Shiva in their lives and gives them a sentiment of tranquility and peacefulness. A 32-mile journey around the circumference of Kailash Mountain, also called “Kora” in Tibetan and “Parikrama” as referred by Hindus is a bit physically difficult. However, with adequate preparation pilgrims can ace it. Spend your best time trekking with us!!
